As an artist and a person, I've felt “blocked” or “stuck” many times in life. I know everyone has or will feel this way at some point in their lives. One of the worst things we can do with this feeling is isolate ourselves, obsess over the mundane, and succumb to perfectionism. Gritting your teeth all the time will only dull them down when it actually comes time to eat. idk man. I'm trying to say, we need to make time for play.

PO8TRY CORNER is a place for anyone to take a moment for play. In a world where it's easy to drown in consumption, I want to challenge everyone with a chance to create. You don't have to be a “writer” to participate. This is for anyone with a mind, body, and soul. Here's how it works:

Every Sunday I will post a new poetry prompt on this page.

Whenever you have a moment, set a timer for 8 minutes and begin writing an original poem based on the weekly prompt. It doesn't have to be profound. It's whatever you want. If you want to continue writing after 8 minutes, you are more than welcome to! Otherwise, feel free to stop when the 8 minutes expire. 

The goal of this ritual is simply to get your pen to paper and your mind stimulated, explored, challenged, fed, eased, and purged. Lower your expectations, just be present. When you are finished, sign your name/alias and submit it to this page. Even if you don't finish, I encourage you to submit whatever you have. All submitted poems will be publicly visible on this site. Visit this page throughout the week to read everyone's work. 

I will post my personal favorites on my Instagram story (@passion8music) and on this page of the site at the end of every weekly cycle (Sunday-Sunday). 

I have more plans to expand on this concept, but for now let's just start writing together:)
